Summer seminar in Międzybrodzie Żywieckie 2026
From 27 July to 2 August 2026, we practised Budo in Międzybrodzie Żywieckie. During our aikido training sessions, we honed our ability to anticipate an attack and respond appropriately. During our kenjutsu sessions, we focused on executing a correct attack from the ura dachi stance. We used jo dori and tanto dori techniques to work on distance and timing. Batto jutsu was a training exercise in mindfulness and patience.
Summer seminar in Paulhaguet - July 2026
From 11 to 17 July 2026, Pascal Durchon (7th dan), Thomas Gavory (6th dan) and Andrzej Bazylko (6th dan) directed a summer Aikido seminar in Paulhaguet. Aikido techniques were first demonstrated in a form designed to teach the mechanics of movement, and then in a form that allows for their practical application. Great emphasis was placed on the work of the uke. Work on structure and rhythm was at the heart of the jo training sessions. Sword training involved identifying weaknesses in the opponent's movements and attempting to exploit them.
End-of-year seminar - Puteaux 2026
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, another end-of-year training course took place in Puteaux under the guidance of sensei Pascal Durchon. Group and individual kenjutsu training sessions were led by sensei Andrzej Bazylko. The aikido sessions focused on learning to move beyond the learned form, combining a dynamic entry with the softness of the technique. The kenjutsu training sessions focused on learning how to attack, using ura dachi as an example.
The 50th anniversary of aikido in Poland
On 13–14 June 2026, celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of aikido in Poland took place in Poznań, at the Poznań International Fair grounds. The special guest was the great-grandson of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido, and the son of the current Dōshu – Moriteru Ueshiba – Mitsuteru Ueshiba Dojo-Cho, who directed a ceremonial aikido seminar.
Andrzej Bazylko Shihan
In April 2026, Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba conferred upon me the title of Shihan. I regard this honourable title as a commitment to continue creating a space where people can meet and develop, a space that has a real impact on their lives and on the kind of people they become, a space where, through Budo, they can learn to act for the good of others and build a healthy society.
Pascal Durchon’s seminar in Warsaw – 7 March 2026
The seminar programme covered basic kumijo kata, including attacks at jodan, chudan and gedan. We revised material from two years ago. As uke, in response to tori's reception of the attack, we worked on both stepping in (irimi) and turning (tenkan). As tori, we worked on shifting our weight onto the leading leg and stepping off the line of attack.
Janusz Biegas - godan
It is difficult to find the right measure for years of work and personal development. The most important thing is that we can pass on its effects in the form of our own experiences to others, but sometimes their external dimension is represented by the Aikikai rank. Congratulations to Janusz, who was promoted to 5th dan by Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba!
Sensei Andrzej Bazylko in Kielce, 29 November 2025.
We met again in Kielce for the annual seminar. As part of kenjutsu training, we worked on cutting technique. We worked on the correct distance while performing Kihon Dachi kata, in which the attacker used a jo and the defender used a sword. During aikido training, we worked on correct posture, balance control and movement.
