The 50th anniversary of aikido in Poland

On 13–14 June 2026, celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of aikido in Poland took place in Poznań, at the Poznań International Fair grounds. The special guest was the great-grandson of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido, and the son of the current Dōshu – Moriteru Ueshiba – Mitsuteru Ueshiba Dojo-Cho, who directed a ceremonial aikido seminar. The seminar was attended by around 1,400 people from all over Poland and a dozen or so other countries. All Polish aikido organisations affiliated with the Aikikai were represented. On the evening of Saturday 13 June, aikido demonstrations took place, followed by a gala dinner at which those who had made a significant contribution to the development of aikido in Poland were honoured, including Andrzej Bazylko Sensei.
